Wow, that was fast.

I dunno, I think I'd place it a liiiiittle higher in my list, if only because it was one of the few non-Zelda Zelda games.  Sure they're good with the traditional story line, but I thought it was more interesting.  Link's Awakening is still one of my favorite Zelda games of all though.  (There was this tiny bit of hope I had at one point that Phantom Hourglass was somehow a retelling of Link's Awakening, but oh well...it already got ONE improvement, even though it wasn't that huge really).

Yeah, I love Link's Awakening as well, and, the story in Majora's Mask was interesting enough, I didn't mind that part of it. Still, yet again coming back around to the "timer" issue, I never really felt like I had the chance to get into the story, talking to all the people and everything, since I always felt like I needed to get going with what I needed to be doing and, unlike most other games (including the other Zelda games) where I spend tons of time wandering around talking with everyone and whatnot, in Majora's Mask I pretty much did none of that, so I'm sure I missed out on plenty of the finer details of the storyline.

Now that I've beaten the game, I suppose I can go back through and do some of that now since I have nothing else I "have" do be doing, but still. Again, I just really wish there was some sort of "get rid of the moon and just play through the game without it" mode. I know it would make no sense with the storyline (and the people with a schedule that varies over the days, although that could just cycle), but, I don't really care, I just want it to go away. Ah well.

otherwise, I still play the gamegear every once in a while. We have a lot of games for it but I mainly just play the sonic games, ristar, garfield, and lion king. SEEEEEEGAAAAAAA

Haha, I have a GameGear too. I haven't played it in years, but I do remember the Sonic games and Lion King. LOL, I thought I was the only one who played Lion King. Another game I loved for GameGear was Road Rash. Woo, I think I may have to play that soon.

I'll be honest ... I don't like Majora's Mask, mainly for the same complaint you had, Terris. I hate time-based games and being forced to beat things in a certain amount of time. It's one thing to have levels or little parts of the game to be time-based, but when the whole game is like that, I just don't like it. For that reason, I never beat Majora's Mask and don't really have the motivation to keep trying to.

Well I played Super Metroid a couple weeks ago. That's my favorite game ever, so I'm always giving it some play every now and then. But after beating Super Mario Galaxy a couple weeks ago, I had the urge to play Super Mario 64. So I started a new file of that.

Let's see ... I still need to beat ShadowGate. I started a file months ago, got stuck, and never went back to it. I love those text-based adventure games though ... I should really try to finish that up soon.

I finally finished Sonic Heros.....thank goodness.  I'm actually enjoying Shadow the Hedgehog to some degree....although I feel both games are just .... masochistic.  In Heros you have to play the same levels four times each with four different character sets(so it's not QUITE as bad), then replay some levels if you missed a Chaos Emerald, and then after you got all of those, then you had to fight a really buggy boss that was more chore than fun.

But as if that wasn't bad enough, once you beat Heros, the only thing you can unlock is a "Hard Mode", and ONLY after getting A-Rank on every(BUGGY) level, which is impossible on normal mode, and they want me to unlock a HARD MODE after that!?!

And then of course in Shadow the Hedgehog, there are a lot of 'collectathon/killathon' missions where, in order to complete the mission how you want(bad, neutral, or good), you have to either kill ALL of the good guys, bad guys, collect 400 rings, or 10 items, or whatever.

And in order to get to the 'Last Story' to get the true ending, you have to get all 10 basic endings first.  There are five basic routes(which can be mixed up to make it interesting), but it basically means two levels of 'Bad', one neutral, and two levels of 'Good', but the final stage in those areas, you have one last chance to be either bad or good(no neutral), and that makes up the ten endings.....so eventually you either take the same route, or at least have to do the same last stage twice, and make sure to be the opposite(good or bad) of what you were when you last beat that particular last-stage.  It's very tedious.  I've gotten 5 endings, so I'm only half way there.  I've never gotten to the Last Story on this game, so I'm still kind of interested in doing it.

BUT off and on, I've been switching out of Shadow and playing my new 'Super Swing Golf Season 2' for Wii, which I like a lot actually.  True, it's only a shallow step-up from the first SSG game for Wii, but the improvements are very welcome(I just wish they didn't drop the unlockable art gallery).  Mostly I like that the AI is much more gradual, and less of a 'totally dominant or completely stupid' approach.

Glad it wasn't just me.
I understand they were trying to do something "different," and it certainly is that. Just, as I said, I really wasn't happy with how things like that ended up.

The end area of the game was actually pretty interesting, and the ending was alright, and as I said I'm happy to have at least gone through it once, but, it was really more of a "chore" than something I enjoyed doing.
Ah well.

Well I played Super Metroid a couple weeks ago. That's my favorite game ever, so I'm always giving it some play every now and then.

Yeah, I'd imagine you are with that game like how I am with Chrono Trigger. Even if I'm not "currently" playing it, I still might be doing so at any given time

But after beating Super Mario Galaxy a couple weeks ago, I had the urge to play Super Mario 64. So I started a new file of that.

I had the same urge after beating Galaxy myself, I want to start a new file of Mario 64 now. It's just such a great game.
Have other stuff that I'm playing now, but, I'm sure I will in the near future.

Let's see ... I still need to beat ShadowGate. I started a file months ago, got stuck, and never went back to it. I love those text-based adventure games though ... I should really try to finish that up soon.

Heh, yeah, I remember talking with you about that game a while back, and your adventures with it. Hope that you do eventually make your way through it. As I've said before, I love that game very much, and it's one of my favorites. If you do start going through it again, feel free to discuss anything as you're going through it, as it's a great game to talk about, and I'd be happy to discuss it as you're going along.

Yeah, stuff like that is alright in moderation, but, it can really drag down a game if it's overdone. For me the worst was Donkey Kong 64, where you would literally have to walk over the same exact path with five different characters just to pick up different-colored bananas.

Doing different stuff to find and do new things is fine, but, just doing stuff for the sake of repetitive collection is annoying.

Haven't had a chance to play any of the SSG games, but, I do enjoy Golf games in general. Wii Sports Golf is fun, but, of course, as all games are in that, it's fairly on the basic side. Getting a more involved golf game for Wii would be interesting, since the general control ideas of them are good.

As far as what I've been playing, a couple of days ago I finished up another playthrough of Trace Memory for DS, which I'd been meaning to do for a bit. It's a very fun game.

After that, I had been playing around for a bit in Ocarina of Time: Master Quest on the GCN disc. It's alright, but, having been really excited for everything that was talked about in Ura-Zelda for the 64DD, the fact that Master Quest was basically just "remixed dungeons and nothing else" was rather disappointing to me. Sure, it's interesting enough, but, not nearly everything that had been talked about for the 64DD version. Ah well.

Today I also started in on a new file of Earthbound. I know I'm going to be getting a bunch of games for Christmas, so I don't really want to start in on anything else too major at the moment. Still, even though I probably won't finish it before then, it's a fun game to play around in anyway.

I've started to replay a lot of games that I haven't played in a while. Just this past week I restarted DK64 and SM64, trying to get full 100% runs on each (right now I have 76 Bananas in DK64 and 82 Stars in SM64 on the current runs). Been playing random NES games on and off as well, such as Xevious (I love that game!) and SMB, of course. As always, picking up Super Smash Bros. every couple weeks, and even more often now as I become impatient for Brawl. Been feeling ready for another run of OoT as well, so I'll probably start that on my odd weekend coming up. (I have the weekend, school monday, then tuesday off for voting day)

Terr, which playthough of EarthBound are you on?

I *finally* got a little bit of headway into 'Wonderboy in Monster World'(Genesis, Virtual Console).  It's been bugging me for months...kept dying in the same area because I didn't have enough money for the next upgrade, so I finally got smart and just collected bags of money until I could upgrade, then I got lucky picking up a few elixers, and I managed to get to a few new areas.  Might just finally beat that game some time(I still need to beat Dragon's Curse, but I really need to get lucky and get that stupid Elixer Roulette to give me one too).

I hope tomorrow's not busy traffic wise...doubt it would matter for me, but still.  I was going in to pick up Endless Ocean(not the most epic game, I know), as well as put down an order for Apollo Justice I guess(maybe), annnnnnd that Big Head Baseball(?) was there 'Used', miiiiight pick that up if I really want I guess.  Who knows...I don't really want to spend a lot of money..

I'm playing Super Mario Galaxy, but only when little siblings are around to help me collect star bits.

It really makes the game more fun to have a little sibling take care of that stuff. One, I don't have to worry about waving the wii remote around as I fight enemies, two, the siblings enjoy it, and three, it's an opportunity to spend time with them. =)

Oh, and they stun enemies for me too, so I don't die as much. xD

Heh, hadn't really updated my "playing" status in a bit, mainly since I've been jumping around between a bunch of things lately.

I finally finished up Twilight Princess for GCN a bit ago, and since then I've been hopping around a little bit. I started in on Baten Kaitos Origins for GCN which I'd gotten last month, and about 15 hours into that, but, decided to take a bit of a break and play some other stuff.

A couple days ago I played some Double Dragon 2 which I had gotten recently. Then yesterday I played through Mega Man 2 and Rygar.
I enjoy the Mega Man series as a whole, but, if I had to pick my favorite, Mega Man 2 would definitely be it. Rygar's a very fun game, which definitely could've used a password save or something, but since I've beaten it a bunch of times by now, I can go through it fairly quickly (think it took around 3 hours). For the first time through though, it's rather long to have to beat in one sitting.

So, needless to say, I kind of got sidetracked from my playing of Earthbound that I'd started before Christmas. I'll probably get back to it and start another new file somewhere in the near future. I can't even imagine how many times I've played through it already, but, it's still just as much fun as always

BBB: DK64, it was an alright game, but, unlike DKC 1-3, after I beat DK64, I never really felt the urge to go back and be complete about things. I don't know, it just didn't really draw me back in. Maybe one of these days though. Mario 64 though, of course, is a spectacular game, and getting all the stars in that is always a pile of fun. I haven't ever had a chance to play Xevious, or really looked into it too much.

Magnus: I haven't had the chance to try out any of the Wonder Boy games. I really should one of these days. Dragon's Curse I did buy for the VC (since I don't have a TG16), but, haven't really spent much time with it.
I'm pretty low on money at this point (gee, can't imagine why), but, I'd really like Endless Ocean. I'm hoping my fiancée might buy it for me.

Feu: Yeah, I haven't really had a chance to play around too much with the "multi-player" mode of Galaxy, but, it definitely seems like a nifty idea if only, as you said, to keep others occupied and happy without risking too much of a problem to you

Dragon's Curse, to me, will always be "Wonderboy III: The Dragon's Trap", although regrettably the Dragon's Curse version has REALLY pathetic/childish in-game story/text.  They focus on the fact that you're 'ugly' rather than the main point of trying to become Hu-Man again.  BUT it's my absolute favorite of the series, although if they'd officially release it, I'd like to have the Japanese-only Monster Land IV translated for VC(which is highly unlikely).  Anyway, if you haven't played through DC, I'd really suggest giving it a go....I still think it's a great cross of Metroid and Zelda II, but with just very excellent controls, and getting a new form after each boss battle is cool.

As for Endless Ocean....gah.  It's a Nintendo-published game, so I expected a Monday release, Tuesday sell.  It ALWAYS is....but not today.  Add to that, it was snowing out, I already passed one VERY bad accident....and the woman who wasn't even the cashier was being a jerk when I told them I was going to cancel the preorder, and she kept jumping in to remind me that I wouldn't find it anywhere else today(I didn't think it was either, but I wasn't going to get it from them after the way she talked down to me).  I'm going to have to order it online or something, I don't want to waste gas again just to try to guess when it's going to really be there.  Oh well.  Kind of annoying since it's not exactly the most necessary game, but it IS a game that I want, if only for the exploration aspect since I feel it's missing in a lot of recent games(MP3, Galaxy, others)..

A couple of days ago, I decided to start up a new file of Quest 64 for N64. I got it right when it came out, and beat it then, but, not sure I've actually fully played it through again since then. Quest 64 is... an alright game. I have a number of issues with it, and enjoy its quasi-followup Aidyn Chronicles far more, but, it's still alright.

Also, for no particular reason, a couple of days ago I decided to play Baldur's Gate 2 for PC. I've had the game, and Baldur's Gate 1, for years, and they're both fun games, but, I just don't really like having to sit at a computer to play games, and so I've never really put as much time as I'd like into either games. I'd wanted to play through Baldur's Gate 1 before starting in on 2, and got a decent way into 1 a number of times, but then would always get sidetracked by other stuff, and as a result haven't gotten through that game and haven't spent more than around an hour or so with 2. So, I decided to just not worry about that for now, and give 2 a shot and try making my way through that. It's a fun game, but there's still the issue of I just don't like having to sit at a computer to play a game. Ah well.

Oddly enough, Endless Ocean actually came early.  Which is odd cuz other people said they'd gotten their Nintendo Powers in like two weeks ago....I still haven't gotten mine, but a game I wasn't expecting for two MORE weeks actually came within five days.  Nice.

Anyway, it's an alright 'game'.  I won't go into too much detail since so many other sites have said what I'm going to say: it's less of a game than most games, but if you're into that sort of slow-paced no-real-goals type of game, then it's fine.  Yeah, it's annoying that you can only stay in that area that you put your boat down into, but it's not like a box-grid...if you moved the circle-area an inch to the left on the map, you really do increase your max 'diving zone' by that much in-game(well, proportionally, so maybe a foot or more).  It can get annoying though: I originally came across a small 'open cave' area, and didn't find the item I was looking for....but later on, I was diving NEAR that area, and I was able to go halfway into that cave before it started to tell me to 'return to the diving area' since I was getting 'too far away from the boat'.  So I guess it's interesting that it's still all connected, dependent on where you place that dive-circle-cursor, but annoying that you can't just keep swimming.

Anyway, out of the map you're given, there are some dud-areas, which is annoying. Maybe they'll hold more importance later on, or maybe there are more areas, or maybe the deep-sea-diving gear(whenever I actually unlock it) will help in finding more places...but as it is, there are just some areas where you'll dive, and it'll just contain the same fish as the main areas, or it'll be nothing but shallow sand areas with nothing much of interest.

For what it IS however, it's very good...I just think I really would have trouble convincing anyone to get into it unless they can sort of 'down shift' into a mild and mellowed-out kind of mode I guess.  *shrug*  It's funny because when I play it, it's pretty cool, but when I try to write about it, all I can do is warn about the potential for boredrom......*shrug*  Ah well...

Well, Renée said she'd probably get it for me when we see each other on Tuesday, so, hopefully we'll be able to find it then.

Definitely looking forward to trying it out. It really looks like a game that I would enjoy. Even in games like Mario 64 and Galaxy and such, I've always just enjoyed randomly swimming around for no particular reason. So, a game that is all about just randomly swimming around, as I said, seems like something that I'll really enjoy
