So, I just figured I'd share when I get some new Legacy games (which isn't nearly as often as I'd like, with the main issue being that there's never enough money to go around). Anyone else is free to share as well.

So, anyway, a few weeks ago I got:
AD&D: Pool of Radiance (NES)
Crystalis (NES)
Deadly Towers (NES)
Mappy Land (NES)
AD&D: Eye of the Beholder (SNES)
Cool Spot (GEN)

Eye of the Beholder for SNES is nifty since it's one of the other games (aside from Mario Paint, of course) that uses the SNES mouse. It works really well for this sort of game too, and definitely seems better playing the game with the mouse.
Crystalis, I've had the GBC version for a while, but, have heard that a bunch of things were changed from the NES version and that one was better, so, figured it would be interesting to pick it up as well.

Only spent around $11 or so on it all too. Easily could've spent a pile more, there were a whole bunch of games there that I would've loved to buy. Still, have to stop myself somewhere

I think Civilization for SNES(my favorite version of the game currently) also used the mouse, and to me, it was prrrrretty addicting.  I just hated how later on, you suddenly started to lose resources in towns and stuff, and I never could figure out how to replenish them easily, and then they'd just fall apart after a while.

Crystalis, I've never played the GBC version, but I've 'tried' the NES version, and it seemed pretty decent.  I never bothered to get very far though...

The rest I don't really know, except Cool Spot I think, but it was mostly a 7up promo, and who knows, might have been an edit of an imported game...not sure on that though.  I just remember how Yo! Noid was 'neat' back in the day, and only recently I realize it was a different game before that.  Anyway, Cool Spot seemed kiiiinda cool, but I can't quite remember it all.

Myself, the last retro game I've bought was a year ago, when I finally bought a GBC for my remaining GB games since I'd gotten rid of my Gameboy Player and my GBA SP, and then I bought Pokemon Trading Card Game GBC cart off of eBay.  I don't play it much at all though, but it's still a neat game, and I kind of wish they'd kept that going as opposed to sayyy...Yugioh(because I'm not into that at all).  Other than that, the most 'retro' that I go is buying an old GCN game, but unless I can find Skies of Arcadia again(I kinda wish I hadn't gotten rid of it), I think I'm done buying them for now.

Yeah, I have Yo! Noid as well, and was actually playing it a bit fairly recently. It's amazing how many games back in the NES/SNES/GEN days based off licenses and movies and such are also some very fun (and in many cases spectacular) games.

Haven't had a chance to play any version of Civilization, or even really look into it much. Still, maybe one of these days I will, if only because SNES games that use the mouse are nifty.

Pokémon Trading Card Game, I enjoyed that since I've never had the chance to play the actual card game with anyone, and it was fun to get the chance to try it out. As you said, it would be nifty if they updated it and kept up with it and such.

Skies of Arcadia, I bought the GCN version of that, and played a bit of it, but got kind of side-tracked by other stuff. My main issue is that, in general, I'm not as fond of airships in RPGs. In games like Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger and such, at least it's not a major part, but, of course, in Skies of Arcadia, it's a pretty major part. It does seem like a fun game though, and, I should give it some more time one of these days.

So, I got some more new games (all NES games) today that I thought I'd share about. I got:

Adventures in the Magic Kingdom
Base Wars
Bubble Bobble
Conquest of the Crystal Palace
Also got one of the "Dog Bone" NES controllers

All for around $17.

Bubble Bobble I used to have but wandered off a while ago. I had been meaning to get it again, but just hadn't gotten around to it until now. It's a great game though, and I'm very happy to have it again.

The other three games I've never played, but seem interesting. Base Wars I'd seen a bunch about, and I was really excited to get. It's a Baseball game with robots, sounds fun. Conquest of the Crystal Palace I hadn't really seen much of, but seems like a game I'd enjoy. Adventures in the Magic Kingdom I ddn't know anything about, other than that it's a NES Disney game by Capcom, which is generally a good mix, but, the person at the store I was buying it from said it wasn't really as good as their other efforts. Still, that game was only $1, so, figured it couldn't hurt to try it out. The Dog Bone controller, I'd been thinking of trying one of those out for a while. I've always been fine with the regular NES controller, but, I figured it would be interesting. Tried it for a little while, and it's nice.

So, that's what I've been up to.

Wow, sounds like the Dog Bone controller must have been a good deal if you got ALL of that for around seventeen bucks...huh.

Bubble Bobble is something of a 'legend'....it's one of the most simplistic and basic games out there, plays the same dang song over and over ... and yet it's kind of addictive all the same.  I remember we rented it, and we were like WHAT the CRAP did we get!?!  This is stupid!  But we kept playing it....still, couldn't beat it.  Not sure if I ever could...or if I'd still want it, but oh well.

All of the others I haven't played EXCEPT Adventures in the Magic Kingdom - while it does have some wonky games, it has GREAT music, and can be pretty fun over all, mostly in the 2D levels.  The "3D Space" game was pretty cool though.  It's really kind of a weird mix of different games altogether, and some are just more annoying than good, but I think it evens out pretty well.  Definately worth a dollar, if only for the music. :p

Off the top of my head, I believe the individual prices were:
Adventures in the Magic Kingdom: $1
Base Wars: $3
Bubble Bobble: $8
Conquest of the Crystal Palace: $2
"Dog Bone" NES controller: $5
Then, I had a coupon for $2 off a purchase of $15 or more, so, with tax, that would bring it in at around $17-something, so, that sounds about right.

Pretty much what happens with this store is, since I know the guy who owns it (not directly - he's a friend of my sister's husband. Nonetheless though), he has some games he has out front and priced, but then he has a whole pile of stuff out back that he hasn't tested and sorted and priced and such. So, when I go there, I go out back, find some stuff that I like, bring it up there, he looks it over and gives me prices, and I pick what I want (since, unfortunately, I can't buy everything).
He is generally very good on prices. He knows what stuff is worth, and isn't going to charge too much on something that isn't worth it but also knows when something is worth more and won't just randomly price it. I've been very happy with it.

I absolutely love Bubble Bobble's music. As you said, it's just that one song, over and over and over, but, I could just sit there and listen to it. I don't know what it is, but, I just really like it.
As far as beating it,  I'm not sure I've ever actually beat it, for the most part I just enjoy playing around for a while and then stopping.
I played a bit of Adventures in the Magic Kingdom today, and, it's interesting. I played that space flying thing you mentioned, and it was fun. Did the mine cart thing, died a couple of times, but it was interesting. Also did the car racing, but I kept losing, ah well. Went through a bit of the haunted mansion too, which was fun. It's an interesting collection of things, and, of course, for $1, can't complain.

Wow, that's pretty cool.  Closest thing around here that would be somewhat similar is just a pawnshop that happens to have games, but they're all similarly priced(and I don't know them THAT well of course).  Coolest thing I got was a Japanese Gameboy game I just happened to see one day.  It was Sailor Moon R ... but it's also in hiragana/katakana only, so it makes it easier to read(understanding's a whole 'nother thing).

Seems like some pretty good prices tho'.  And yeah, I do like that Bubble Bobble song.  It's too bad all of the 'new' versions keep getting low scores, and mostly for being buggy ports I guess.  But I'd really like a (good) new Bubble Bobble...it's sort of an action-puzzler I guess..

Yeah, for the longest time we had nothing like this around here. If I wanted older games, aside from eBay, it used to be that I would stop by the Funcoland that was near my fiancée's when I was there. Then, of course, Gamestop bought them and they stopped carrying older games. Then, I found out there was a GameCrazy near her, and so we'd stop by there occasionally. There were never any stores like that around me though.

This store, it only opened somewhat recently (I don't know, a couple of years ago or so) at the mall here, and was just stuff like Magic cards and other CCG/Trading Card sort of things, board games, D&D, that sort of stuff and was owned by someone else. The guy who owns it now used to work at the Electronics Boutique in the mall. I guess he knew the guy who used to own this place, and that guy was looking to sell it, so he bought it.

Soon after he bought it, my sister told me that she and her husband had been in there, and she had seen that he had some NES and SNES games for sale, and she thought I'd be interested (she knows me well). So, I went in, saw what he had, and bought a few things. I told him, "I'm very happy you have stuff like this, since very few places still carry stuff like this. If you keep carrying it, I'll keep coming in and buying it." So, he's kept carrying it, and, true to my promise, I keep coming in and buying a bunch of stuff. It works out very well for both of us I'd imagine.

Anyway, yeah, I bought the GBC version of Bubble Bobble when it came out, but, I was very disappointed with it. For one thing, they completely removed the two-player mode. More at issue though was that, since the GBC's screen is smaller, as opposed to the NES version where the entire game was on one screen, in the GBC version you have to scroll up and down as you play and can't see the whole playing area at the same time. This really made the game feel and play much differently, and, I just didn't like it. Oh well. At least I have the NES version again now.

Oh, I didn't know there was a GBC version, I meant the DS version that came out a while back.  That does sound really awkward... and now that I think of it, there seemed to be quite a few GBC NES-remakes back then -- Bionic Commando, Metal Gear, Super Mario Bros...it's almost like the GBA's short lived NES Classics...it makes me wonder how many "GBC-NES" games were made..

And that's really cool.. I used to know a few places that were like that store, that had all of the different board games and puzzles, mind-busters(the kind of rubix and rings and other physical puzzles), and model cars.  (Wish I could find a place again that carried Gundam models, Toys R Us and "Babbages"(before Gamestop bought them out) only carried them when Gundam Wing / G Gundam was popular.)

Yeah, I'd thought about checking out the DS version, but, decided that getting the NES version again would be the best idea. Which, of course, I finally did.

The GBC seemed like a good match for NES ports, and, if it had a longer lifespan, I would imagine it would've seen much more of them, with the GBA (or whatever came out after GBC if the GBC had that longer life) having more SNES ports, and a longer life to it before seeing something that could do a bunch of N64 ports. As it was, the GBC got some NES ports, then the GBA got some NES ports and some SNES ports, and now the DS seems to be getting NES/SNES/N64 remakes instead of ports. Kind of a bit tighter of a timeline than I'd think they may have envisioned. Of course, given how long the original GB was out, was hard to expect any of its follow-ups to last that long.

Some other NES ports on GBC I have are Marble Madness, Déjà Vu 1 & 2, Dragon Warrior 1 & 2, Dragon Warrior 3, Paperboy, Shadowgate Classic, and possibly other stuff I skipped over just looking quickly.
With the GBA, aside from just the Classic NES series, it has gotten a number of other NES ports as well, often in small compilations. DSI in particular did some of those. Again, my feeling is that more of those would've gone to the GBC if it had a longer lifespan, with the next Gameboy system then getting more SNES ports. Who knows though.

Cross-posted from the Christmas thread in General Discussion, but, for Christmas I got:

For NES:
Battle Chess
Dungeon Magic
Life Force
Lunar Pool
Magic of Scheherazade
Magician
Operation Wolf
Rampage
RoadRunner

For SNES:
Stunt Race FX
Waialae Country Club
Young Merlin

For Gameboy (all of these are for the regular GB)
Bonk's Adventure
Donkey Kong
Rolan's Curse
Solomon's Club
Sword of Hope
Ultima: Runes of Virtue
Wario Land

For Dreamcast:
Record of Lodoss War

Did the shopping on those myself, they all came to right around $100, which was pretty good.

Also got NiGHTS for Wii, but, of course, that's not a Legacy game.
As well, got a $25 gift certificate to the shop around here that I've been getting my older games from, which will, of course, turn into more games at some point or another

In the past month or so I've gotten:

Illusion of Gaia (SNES) - $5
Secret of Evermore (SNES) - $15
Earthbound (SNES) - $50
Kid Icarus - Of Myths and Monsters (GB) - $6
Tetrisphere (N64) - $6

I'm not certain those are the only games I've racked in as of recent, but that's the majority.  All of the games besides Earthbound were bought at a used book store (Earthbound was bought on eBay).  Earthbound was a gift for Christmas, although I did the bidding on it myself.

I'm enjoying all of those games.  I was really surprised to see IoG for only $5, especially after playing it and seeing how fun it is.  Evermore is fun as well, but simply that.  I don't think I like it too much.  Then again, I haven't played much of it, so that's only based on about two or three hours of gameplay.

Tetrisphere is awesome.  I've seen you (TerrisUS) talk about it a bunch of times back on the old legacy boards at Nsider, and now I see why.  A lot of the Tetris spin-offs aren't very good, but I figured I'd give this one a chance; I'm glad I did.

Earthbound isn't anything new for me in the long run.  I originally had the game for years but that cartridge's save battery broke a couple months ago.  That's mainly why I got a new one.  I haven't played through it for a long time, however, so I'm doing that now.  It's amazing all over again; currently at Summers and just started playing as Poo.

Nifty. Yeah, I tend to love Puzzle games in general, including most of the games with Tetris in the title, but, Tetrisphere is really a very different, and addictive, sort of game. The main mode is really something unusual, but quickly becomes natural as one gets into the game. As well, the Puzzle mode is plenty of fun. Plus, the two-player is great. What's more, the soundtrack is absolutely spectacular.
Glad you had the chance to get it, and that you've been enjoying it as well.

Secret of Evermore and Illusion of Gaia are among the more frequent in my "I've had this game for a while, but haven't really had the chance to spend much time with it. I really need to fix that one of these days" games. Secret of Evermore I did spend a decent amount of time with back when I'd gotten it, but then got sidetracked by other stuff. Illusion of Gaia, though, I haven't spent more than a few minutes with. I had been in the process of playing Soul Blazer (which, I guess, is one of three games in a related sort of string with IoG and Terranigma), but, again, got sidetracked while doing that as well. I've been trying to be better about not getting sidetracked, but, it still happens from time to time.
As you noted, that's a very good deal on Illusion of Gaia, great that you had a chance to get it for that.

Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters I got a couple of years back, but haven't really spent much time with either. Originally that was because when I got it, it needed to be cleaned, and I was on vacation so I wasn't really able to give it a proper cleaning where I was. It works fine now, but, for whatever reason I just haven't gotten to it yet.
I know much of this post sounds like a whole bunch of "I haven't gotten to it yet" Ah well.

Earthbound, of course, is an absolutely spectacular game, which you probably know as well. I haven't had any of my batteries die yet, but, when they do, I'll try my hand at replacing them. Doesn't seem like it'll be too hard. Still, getting to play Earthbound is definitely well worth whatever money is needed to play it.
Hope that you enjoy playing through it again, and, I should start a new file on it sometime soon too. I've played through it a whole bunch, but, it's just one of those games which is so much fun to play no matter how many times one has done it.

Yeah, yeah.  I'm very surprised with Tetrisphere.  It's definitely addicting.  By myself I've been playing the 1 Player modes constantly and with friends it's a whole other story.  A bunch of us were hanging out at my house, intentionally going have a Smash Bros. Melee fest, but more than an hour was spent playing non-stop Tetrisphere.

Like you said, the soundtrack is amazing, as well.  A lot of Tetris games have a small track selection to play to, but Tetrisphere's is full of good variety.

That's great to hear that you've been able to play it with others as well, and that they'd gotten into the game too. It definitely has a way of drawing people in.

It's always fun to have other people getting into a game as much as you are. Sometimes people aren't as eager to try "older" games, but, they certainly can provide plenty of fun, as you well know, and as they found out
