I finally beat RD on Hard!

Let me tell you, some of the chapters are really hard, especially with Micaiah's party. I had to restart Chapter 1 several times, Chapter 6 part 2 once, Part III Chapter 6 three times, Chapter 13 three times (what is up with the laguz enemies having "S" strike? this made Sothe much weaker  ), and Part III Endgame three times - I was just careless on that chapter. I breezed through the Ike and Tibarn stages in Part IV (though a did have to restart Chapter 1 once - silly Falcon Knight from Darkness and killing Rhys  ) but I had to restart the Micaiah chapters multiple times before I got them figured out. I had to do the Black Knight chapter twice because I defeated him before I got the Wishblade. I had to restart the final battle 3 times b/c Kurth was killed by the final boss twice.

Getting bonuses for Jill (especially HP), Nephenee, Brom, and Sothe was a big help to me. Nephenee ended up being my best unit, next to Ike, and she capped everything except her magic.

With this third playthrough, I think I have all the base conversations now. This time I let Mist be defeated, I did not recuit Stefan, and I brought Rafiel to the last battles. Oh wait... there is a conversation when Mist and Boyd are supported to A. I think that is the only one I lack now. At least I don't have to kill anyone off anymore.

Hard mode was tough, but not impossible. I wouldn't want to try it without giving bonuses to at least Jill, Brom, Sothe, and Nephenee. Also, use Shinion - good starting level, stats, and growth rates, and gaining the extra space of attack range upon promotion makes him invaluable.

This was team in the last battle:
Ike (Ragnell)
Micaiah (Rexaura)
Oscar (Spear)
Shinion (Double Bow)
Mia (Alondite)
Brom (Urvan)
Nephenee (Wishblade)
Naesala
Tibarn
Caineghis
Giffca
Nailah
Ena
Kurth
Nasir
Rafiel
*Hidden Character*

Sothe and Sanaki were next to useless.

My top 5 were:

1. Ike 165
2. Nephenee 142
3. Sothe 114
4. Mia 105
5. Haar 96

I finished RD for the fourth time early Wednesday morning.

I played it on Easy, and I was shocked by how easy it was. Maybe it was because I have already played this game 3 times before. Plus, I did just come off of Hard Mode. I think I only had to restart (from a battle save) once - Part 2 Endgame. Elincia was killed by one of those crossbow guys.

I over-used Kurthnaga in the final battles. I got him all the way to SS strike level.

The units that I never used before were:
Heather (I think I got a little lucky with her. She was getting level-ups that her growth rates don't really support. She was great at weakening enemy units so others go get the experience. With bonus experience, she was capped out by LV18)
Calill (She was decent. She doesn't get any PoR bonuses from Largo! She capped everything except her magic.)
Mist (She was actually pretty good, and even better after she promoted. I made her a custom sword with a str of 14. That helped a lot.)
Astrid (With Paragon and Blossom, she was capped out at LV14.  )
Boyd (Eh. I would have used Nolan if I wasn't using Mist. He was alright and finished #3 in the Top 5)
Edward (Zihark was actually doing better that Edward, but I was dead set on supporting Edward and Pelleas. Apparently, Edward is a general. Pelleas called him "General Edward" when I supported them. )
Tauroneo (Eh. Gatrie would have been better. Oh well.)

I'm contemplating playing PoR and RD again, but I think that I'm going to hold off for awhile. I started FFXII: Revenant Wings the other day, and I would like to start Crisis Core: FFVII soon.

This was my top 5:
1. Edward 101
2. Heather 91
3. Boyd 83
4. Soren 80
5. Haar 72

I think my goal for my next playthrough is to keep Haar out of my top 5. He has been in the top 5 3/4 times.

Sooooooooooooooo yea. Tried to get farther in my sand level again yesterday. Died. Twice more.

I left Laura dead this time. There's not much of the game left and I didn't give her any love up till now, it's not feasible to try to really make her usable at this point. I do have the restore staves on micaiah and laura to help with the long range magic dude but it was just blah. Wyvern riders came and took her out.

Right now I'm having an issue with archers sneaking up the side and taking out my flyers.

I think I'll be able to get it all done... I just tend to turn the damn thing off when I die repeatedly. Lol.

Are you referring to Part Four Chapter Three (I think it was)? I hate that level. I hate Micaiah's whole team; they're by far the weakest of the three. Plus, I've played PoR, so I'm naturally extremely biased towards Ike and company. And desert levels are so bad. My lovely Gold and Silver Knights can only move one square at a time!
I'm on the level after that one and am trying to level Ike as fast as humanly possible. I keep having this horrible fear that the Black Knight will pop up at some random moment and challenge Ike to a duel, as this is my first time through the game.

Also, holy crap at Soren. Arch sages can sometimes be front line units! (on Easy).

I know what you mean about disappearing for months at a time, Merc. I bought (from Hong Kong) FE6 and beat that. Then, I beat PoR for the 15th time (Ashnard is awesome in trial maps ) and then I beat RD for the 5th time just a couple of days ago. I'm already comtemplating my 6th run through the game.

It has been a while since I played that desert level on a difficulty other than easy, but here is what I know: if you are having trouble, overuse Skrimir
and Naesala. That is the last chapter for Micaiah's team anyway. Just make sure that you keep Naesala away from crossbow people and make sure Skrimir has enough Olivi Grass. Also, make sure that Micaiah, Lethe, or Mordecai recruits Stefan. He isn't the greatest unit ever but he isn't bad and he adds a lot of power to a weak team. Also, make sure Leanne stays out of the Bishop's range. (that Bishop isn't even there on Easy...)

My top 5 for the 5th playthrough were:

1. Ilyana 132
2. Jill 98
3. Marcia 93
4. Heather 86
5. Lyre 69

Ilyana #1! Yay!

Actually, now that I look at it, it is an all-ladies top 5. Sweet.

Also, Vika had 40.

i dunno how you can play through those games so many times...
the only games i've played more than once was Sacred Stones... i think i played that 3 times... and then I did the first US FE... the one with Lyndis, Hector and what's his name... (Roy's Dad, lol)  played that one twice
>_>
I did start PoR a 2nd time and got as far as reaching Begnion I think... where you recruit Astrid, after the ship docks there... thats as far as I did. XD

I just REALLY like FE!

As of 5/24/09, I have played through FE: Shadow Dragon once,  FE6 once, FE7 (Eliwood , Hector, Lyn) 6 times, FE8 (Sacred Stones) 5 times, PoR 16 times, and RD 6 times. That makes 35 FE playthroughs!

I plan on playing PoR again to replace my RD hard mode helper and then for the 18th time to use whoever I want. I also plan on playing RD again with what I'm calling my "favorite characters playthrough." I'm not sure when I'll get around to it though.

PoR #16 Top 5:

1. Nephenee 131
2. Ike 122
3. Zihark 112
4. Tormod 89
5. Ilyana 89

RD #6 Top 5:

1. Nolan 80
2. Edward 79
3. Leonardo 79
4. Haar 78
5. Zihark 71

That's that one with Ike vs. Black Knight for the last time. I use that chapter to level up some of my lower level units.

I beat Shadow Dragon a couple of months ago. I wish that it had supports, but alas...
