@Shoj: Yes, Sothe does get a direct transfer, but he can't go beyond his RD caps. Like if Sothe got 17 res in PoR at LV20, it would drop to 15 in RD, and things like that. If you trained him on PoR easy, it was a waste of time since Easy Mode transfer doesn't work. I don't know what happened to your friend, because the normal mode data transfer worked fine on my copy. @The True Legend: I don't find the game play tedious at all. The animations are tedious, but those can be turned off. Was it too easy for you? RD is quite a bit harder, and the story is spaced out better, which helps keep interest. You move between 4 teams as the game plays out, which keeps the gameplay fresher. I would give FE9 another chance. Try different units, use different strategies! FE games are built to play anyway you want, and that is one of my favorite things about the series.

I was thinking to get this in Toys 'R Us' "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" sale they have going on this week, along with pre-ordering NiGHTs. I was waiting, however, to see if Mario & Sonic or Mario Party 8 would come up as available so I could do one of them as a third game.
I should've known better, however. Not only haven't either of them shown up, but, during that time, Fire Emblem went unavailable. If that wasn't bad enough, apparently they decided not to allow preorder games to work for the sale, so I can't do NiGHTs either. So, there went that whole idea doh;
Ah well, it was a good thought anyway. Maybe another time.
The only game in the Fire Emblem series I've had a chance to play was the first GBA one that came here (whatever number that is overall). I'd wanted to check out the GCN one, and this one as well, but, haven't had a chance to do either, and, not sure if or when I'll get the chance to now. Ah well.

Terris, I think we have this conversation every once in a while for nearly two years: Early 2006: Me: "I have been playing FE Path of Radiance lately." You: "I haven't had the chance to check that out yet." Summer 2006: Same thing. Winter 2006/07: Same thing. Summer 2007: Something similar, but you never got around to answering that PM. Either (or both really ) I need to play some other games, and you need to play FE Path of Radiance or Radiant Dawn. Good try with the Toys R' Us idea, and I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. Maybe next time. By the way, the first one on the GBA is FE7.

Yeah, pretty much As I always say, I have a huge long list of games that I'd like to play, and, while that's a great thing in that it means there are so many things out there to enjoy, it is also unfortunate that it means I'm missing out on so many things. I didn't end up getting anything with the Toys 'R Us sale either. Ah well. Yeah, I never remember the full ordering to all the Fire Emblem games, and as I've only played one of them anyway, I'm pretty much out of things as far as the series as a whole goes. Maybe one of these days I really will get around to checking out some of the other games in the series. Try again next year.

The sad thing about the series in the West, is that we only have entries 7-10. We will get FE1 on the DS sometime next year, but no news about 2-6 getting any localization. FE1 isn't even getting this localized treatment until 18 years after the game first came out in Japan! At least next year isn't that far away anymore! I'm about half-way through RD for the second time, and it is noticeability harder on normal than it is on easy. It isn't impossible, but the chapters (especially in Parts 1 and 2) have been way tougher, for me at least. Maybe it will be better on the third playthrough. It probably won't though because that will be on hard.

Played it on normal my first time (and yes, quite difficult compared to FE9, probably because most of the dawn brigade = suck), and i'm somewhere in the middle of part 4 on hard mode now. It's hardly any tougher than normal, but my poor unit management left some key characters underleveled. The Greil Mercenaries are just beastly. You can pick almost any part 3 unit you like (except mist) and they can end up decent with all the experience you get, even on hard. Dawn Brigade...uh, not so much.

This site is different everytime I come back...
@JMM:
You are right about the Dawn Brigade units. Micaiah, Nolan, Edward, and Jill are the only one that have good growths. Zihark is quickly outclassed by Edward (especially on Normal) (5-24-09: I've been doubting the validity of that sentence for quite a while now. I found Zihark to be much more useful on Hard Mode than Edward.) and everyone else just has bad growth rates. Actually, Laura has good growths, but being a level 1 Cleric makes her useless for fighting. I'm using her on normal, and she is better than Rhys as a Saint, and she is 6 levels lower than him! If only her light level was better than E when she promoted... Oh well, she is catching up now.
I'm on the last chapter of normal mode, and I have my team planned out.

I just started playing Radiant Dawn! I'm not reading all the posts in this thread because I don't want to get something spoiled.. I'm not that far into it.
I saved Jill, Taureono & Zihark then moved on to a level or two past that. I am on a rather difficult level right now, it looks like teh entrance to a castle or something. Supposedly saving some prisoners? (Don't tell me! I'll find out tonight I hope)
I'm really enjoying it. The difficulty level it's currently at is definitely something I'd have expected on a second play through but the battle saves definitely make up for that. At least I don't have to start alllllll the way over every time. I try not to overuse that option though.
I LOVE Micaiah. I LOVE Yune.
LOVE!!

Well, at least the site isn't that different this time. This the first time that I have been on in nearly 3 months. So Hen, have you gotten any further since the 12th? I'm thinking of playing through PoR for the 10th time and using some units that would need an early boost in RD Hard Mode. I'm going to finish FFV first though. Btw, who is Zune? That little bird's name is Yune.

It's a tad challenging which pisses me off on occassion but it wouldn't be fire emblem if it wasn't like that

@Hen: Yeah, those Micaiah chapters in Part 3 are pretty tough. I can hardly imagine what I'm going have to do to get through those on Hard Mode. I think that a plan is forming though. @Irish: I'm disappointed over the ending as a whole. I just don't think the game resolved eveything as well as it could have... it's ok, but I wish the ending could have been expanded.

True, Cecil. If they expanded it into another game, it could work out but I mean what else is there to cover? Like all the main stuff's taken care of and they had the ending bits for all the people. They needed to make a better ending for it or at least have a decent closure for Ike imo. It's just too... iono open of an ending for lack of better stuff.
The game itself was good, no doubt.

I guess they could expand into a third game, but not with the same characters.
I just wish there were more pairings that effected the epilouge. With all characters capable to support with each other, there should have been a whole bunch of pairings. Oh well.
