Did anyone else catch this bit from the Guitar Hero 5 review on IGN:

"The removal of friend codes this year is also a huge advancement, instead having the game auto-detect Wii system codes and plug those in. Want new friends? Add their system and not the game. Hopefully this is the start of a new standard on Wii, and from what we're hearing at least thus far that's the plan."

It sounds like Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection games are going to start simply adding friends based on who is in your Wii address book, rather than having to enter unique codes for every game.
This isn't a case of a title being a WiiConnect24 only game either (WC24 games never required friend codes as friends were simply pulled from the address book). It is regular, competitive online play.

I'm not aware of any other new or upcoming releases that use the same functionality, but this is definitely something to look out for.

If that's the case, what if you want to add people you know who just have the game you wish to play but you don't have them as a friend on the system? I mean isn't the wii limited to 20 friends.  Seems even more limiting if you ask me.  They should just get rid of FCs all together and make it more like the 360 set up.

Then obviously you would just add them to your address book instead.

You can have 100 friends in your Wii Address Book.
For reference, you can have 100 friends on your Xbox Live and PlayStation Network friend lists.

Ah well I didn't know that.  I get annoyed with the adding of the numbers.  I hardly use my wii and I thought it was 20 so my bad.

It is about freaking time that Nintendo realized the friend code system was a moronic piece of crap. Now if they would only do this for the DS.

They need to expand the wii address book to more than 100 then if they're gonna do that. People arent gonna have the same people playing the same games. They might at 60 people for one game and 30 for another and 20 for another and 40 for another etc.

If they could make it hold unlimited amounts that'd be awesome but I don't think they can lol
