Why is everyone so in love with Wii Fit? It's not a game and last time I checked I bought the Wii to play games on. Isn't it sort of a paradox, exersising on a gaming console? Can't people exersise without a gaming console I'm all confused.

I consider WiiFit a game. Or, I consider it to have mini games. The soccer mini game where you try to head the ball and avoid flying cleats is kinda fun. The hula hoop one is fun, too; It gives a goal to getting up and moving. Some people need that.

It's nice to have something that records progress in a simple, visual way. WiiFit does that with graphs for weight/BMI.

The exercises may be simple (yoga poases are hard D: )  but if 30 minutes of WiiFit is all someone can fit into their schedule, it's better than nothing. It's not going to do huge wonders on its own, but even thinking about a healthier lifestyle can lead to changes, and I think that WiiFit accomplishes that.

Of course people can exercise without a gaming console. I'm about to go ride my bike for about 10 miles. And I find that more satisfying.

I enjoy WiiFit when I have the time, space, and privacy to play it. I haven't played it in about a month. I've decided that I'm not really one to stick to games long enough to make my copy of WiiFit worth what I payed for it. That's ok. I know not to buy fitness games in the future.

It's a handy scale, though...

Yeah, that's the sole purpose that I've refused to spend my money on it, it's expensive, and I'd get nothing out of it as an already physically fit person. I do see a point to it like Feu mentioned, just like there is a point to DDR's workout mode, but honestly, if you look at what Wii Fit accomplishes, the calories burnt pale in comparison to a real exercise routine.

Initially, I wasn't interested at all in Wii Fit. I'm not one who needs to workout so I didn't think it would be worth it to me. However,  it does have mini-games and those are surprisingly fun. My cousin bought Wii Fit so I got to play it at her house a couple weeks ago. It was actually pretty fun and now I'm kind of interested in it. Of course, that doesn't matter now, because if I wanted to buy it, it's not like I could find it in stores anywhere since Nintendo doesn't like to keep anything in constant production. But Wii Fit isn't just for those who need to lose weight or need to work out. It also helps your balance and posture, things that people who are  not overweight might have problems with. If the Wii can make some kind of exercising fun, then why not go for it?

People can exercise without a gaming console, but gaming consoles make it more fun and entertaining for some people. Take a look at DDR. I know people who have lost a lot of weight playing that game, and it was successful for them because they had fun while doing it. Losing weight in that fashion didn't feel like a chore or something they HAD to do, it just happened while they were having fun playing a game.

I guess my sister just bought a Wii and really wants Wii Fit as her first game, so she asked me to hunt one down for her..  Surprisingly, they're REALLY hard to find.  I guess a lot people are interested in this game...

It's kind of hard to understand why someone would want this game, though.  People would probably get more of a workout by doing the exercises at a gym or with a friend.  However, I know a lot of people don't have the motivation to get down to a gym, and exercising at home is probably even harder..  So I guess the WiiFit provides an outlet for those people.  Plus I guess there are personal trainers in the game, so that might add an extra motivation pusher..  Who knows.

Overall, I think it's better for someone to workout on a system then to not workout all.

I consider Wii Fit a good game for the Wii. Though I thought it was a major disappointment before, once I played it with my little bro my thoughts on the game turned around. Me and him did the Long Run together as well as the Island Lap for the 2P Run, and had fun doing so. The game gets added points in my opinion for giving me exercise while making it fun to do so through its many activities. Though I have a high metabolism, I still need to keep active and build muscle otherwise I'd probably hit a slump. My balance needs some improvement too, and Yoga poses like the Chair help to do so while strengthing my legs (which are strong as is as I have more of a runner body). I see the game as a good way to relieve my day to day stress as well, through things like the Jack Knife challenge, Push Up Challenge, Rhythm Boxing, and Super Hola Hoop. I honestly feel quite sexy doing that Super Hola Hoop mini-game. :>

As I said, I do consider Wii Fit a game and it is starting to become one of my most played Wii games.

I'm using WiiFit again as a scale and to track my weight/BMI progress.

I don't use it for anything else at this point.

That scale is inaccurate for somethings though. I would trust it with weight, but not its BMI ratings like underweight, normal and overweight.

Nintendo didn't make up those labels. BMI has specific ranges for each category. WiiFit just does the number crunching or whatever for me so I don't have to look at a chart for my height and weight every time I want to see my BMI.

I don't need BMI to know I need to lose a few pounds... But I enjoy making goals and seeing the progress on a graph.

I know that. I'm just saying, for example, that someone who is built could be likely to fall into the overweight category when the person is actually pretty fit. This being due to muscle tissue having more weight to it than regular tissue. Then on the other side, someone could have a super high metabolism and fall into the underweight category. All I am saying is that the BMI ratings (underweight, overweight, normal) should be ignored since the game does not factor in things like muscles or metabolism. But that's just how I feel about it.

I agree with you on the height and weight thing. The Wii balance board gets my weight pretty accurate.

the BMI number crunchs on wii fit is exactly the same as the maths that a doctor/nurse would use. though i do agree with you on the fit/well built man vs the un-fit/overweight man, both probably put into the same overweight category. it needs something to maybe adjust it's category. though i don't know how you (or it) would choose what category you fell into. perhaps it can't, and it's basing it's reading on an average joe use (not too well built but not too scrawny either)

Yeah... I agree it's not accurate either. But I like the graphs, especially when they trend down.

I also wonder if they factor in boob weight at all for the female BMI.

I've wanted to pick up Wii Fit (now more so for Club Nintendo ) as a gift for my mom.  I find it amusing to find property that would get her using something with "Nintendo" on it by choice.  *shrugs*  I'm not exactly obsessed over it, but I've no quarrel with it.  I'm not exactly a game purist.  I like games and I prefer them, but if someone wants something a bit different in their kind of game then I won't stand in the way of it.

*chuckles at "boob weight"*

Damn, too bad they don't let you subtract boob weight! That'd be really good for me.....
