Ok, I suppose I better enlighten you all on what happened the evening of 8th April 2008.
Evidently, faulty hardware is attracted to me. For that was the sole reason things went offline last night.
What happens was a complete and catastrophic hard drive failure. The server completely died around 8pm eastern. Unfortunately, that was nearly 1am my time. I found out around 9.30am my time when I tried to check my email..and couldn't. The guys at the datacenter took one look at the console and said "yep, that's one stuffed hard drive".
They re-installed everything from scratch and the server came back online about 2pm my time (about 9am eastern). Then I spent about 2 hours or so copying data from the failed hard drive (fortunately, it stayed good long enough for me to read all the data off it) and re-configured everything. CS came back online about 10.45am eastern following a reboot.
I hope everything stays alright from now on. I'm bored of faulty hardware
