Dear all cuccoscratchers,

Cuccoscratch.com is scheduled for downtime on the weekend of 5th April 2008. The reason for this downtime is to move the site to a new server. Due to the unpredictable nature of DNS resolvers, the resolution change can take anywhere from 4 - 48 hours to complete.

The move is in response to many complaints regarding lag in the shoutbox and slow access to the site in general. This I have also noticed on several occasions. Due to the unreliable nature of the server this site currently resides on, and the unhelpfulness of HiVelocity.net, I have no choice but to transfer my sites and customers to another provider.

The server was finally provisioned this morning, and I have begun transferring my own domain over to it. Once this is complete, and should transferral go without a hitch, the site will be scheduled to be moved next weekend. On the other hand, if things don't go according to plan, I will delay the move until any glitches found have been ironed out.

I hope this will resolve any issues we've been having with stability and reliability over the past few months. I have been using the control panel this morning, and it seems a lot faster.

because that's the only time of the week i have where i have enough time to oversee the whole thing. i'll start in the morning when you guys will be in bed, any maybe by your afternoon (my evening/bedtime) it'll be complete. hopefully.

Ok. Upon assessment of the new server, I will be going ahead as planned with the move tomorrow (Sat 5th April).

I estimate that work will begin around 6am EST on the 5th, at which point the forum will be put in maintenance mode. This is to prevent people logging in, changing & posting while data's copying, thus losing anything that may have been changed after data was copied. DNS will be changed at first, giving it the most time possible to propogate. I will also reset the template back to the forum's default. This won't stay like that. It is purely to be able to identify which server I'm looking at.
